BS6387 Test Shock Vibration Rain Shower Combustion Tester
Application:
The performance requirements of the testing machine, including fire resistance test, water spraying fire resistance test and mechanical fire resistance test, are applicable to mineral insulated cables with rated voltage no more than 450/750v, and the circuit is intact for a long time under flame conditions.
Standard:
BS6387: Test method for resistance to fire of cables required to maintain circuit integrity under fire conditions
Equipment composition:
Fire resistance test: the fire resistance test bench includes the following parts of cable support system, continuous testing device, heat source, etc.;
1. Cable support system: the cable is clamped horizontally at both ends of cable sheath by clamps.The middle part of the cable is fixed by two metal rings (spacing distance is 300mm), and the metal rings are grounded with other metal parts of the device.See figure 1 for cable support device.For unarmored cables less than 10mm in diameter, or other cables with obvious displacement during the test, there are three metal rings, each fixed at about 150mm from the original metal ring.
2. Continuous detection device: during the test, let the current pass through all the cable cores, a three-phase star-connected transformer or three single-phase transformers (or a single-phase transformer if the test is a single-core cable), and have enough capacity to maintain the test voltage to reach the maximum allowable leakage current 3A.Connect one lamp to each conductor at the other end of the cable and load the current at the cable's rated voltage close to 0.25a.
3. Heat source
Heat is a 610mm long tube gas burner which can be forced to supply methane and flame intensive.
Temperature measurement: the thermometer with a diameter of 2mm is placed close to the inlet and is parallel to the upper 75mm of the burner
Test flame temperature and time :(see BS6387 combustion grade)
A: 650 ° C ± 40 ° C - 3 hours
B: 750.° C ± 40 ° C - 3 hours
C: 950.° C ± 40 ° C - 3 hours
S: 950.° C ± 40 ° C - 20 minutes
Sample: the sample is a segment of the finished product, no less than 1200mm, with 100mm sheath and covering removed at both ends.The wires at both ends of the cable shall be electrically connected.
The test voltage: 200~1000V can be adjusted
*BS6387 flame retardant grade BS6387 requires horizontal combustion, water spray and mechanical shock and vibration combustion.
Horizontal burning test: for class A, class B 750 ºC 650 ºC / 3 h / 3 h and C grade 950 ºC / 950 ºC / 3 h and S level 3 min.Said A level 300 v voltage level under 650 ºC burning three hours don't breakdown;B said 300 v voltage level under 750 ºC burning three hours don't breakdown;Class C said 300 v voltage level under 950 ºC burning three hours don't breakdown;The s-class said 300 v voltage under 950 ºC level 3 minutes without breakdown.
Water spray combustion test: it is divided into W level, which means that it burns for 15 minutes at 300 volts before being poured for 15 minutes without breakdown.
Impact vibration combustion experiment: divided into X 15 min, Y 750 ºC 650 ºC / / 15 min and Z level 950 ºC / min, 15 X said 300 v voltage under 650 ºC while burning every 30 seconds mechanical shock vibration 15 minutes without breakdown;Y level said 300 v voltage under 750 ºC while burning every 30 seconds mechanical shock vibration 15 minutes at a time not breakdown;The Z grade 300 v voltage under 950 ºC while burning every 30 seconds mechanical shock vibration 15 minutes without breakdown.The highest level model required for BS6387 is CWZ.
Fire and water resistance test: cable support system, continuous testing device, heat source
1. Cable support system: the cable is connected to two metal supports composed of rigid plates with a width of 25mm. The supports are fixed with metal clamps, and the spacing of the clamps is 200mm.The cable is connected to the bracket as shown in figure 3. All metal frames are grounded.
2. Continuous detection device: during the test, let the current pass through all the core of the cable, three single-phase transformers, and have sufficient capacity to maintain the maximum allowable leakage current 3A under the test voltage.Connect one lamp to each conductor at the other end of the cable and load the current at the cable's rated voltage close to 0.25a.
3. Heat source
- Heat: a cable sample with a strip burner of 400mm in length that can burn up to 400mm.Burner assembly can adjust, can provide a bright flame temperature of 650 + 40 ° C,
- Temperature measurement: the thermometer with a diameter of 2mm is placed on the lower surface of the cable
- Test flame temperature: 650.C + 40 ° c.
4. Spraying water: a sprinkler head is installed on the test bracket as shown in figure 4 and 5, right in the middle of the burner.The water pressure was 250KPa to 350KPa, and the water was sprayed with 0.25l to 0.30l per square meter near the sample.This rate needs to be measured with the collection tray, which has enough depth to have its long axis parallel to the cable's axis and centered.This tray is about 100mm wide by 400mm long.
5. Sample: the sample is more than 1500mm taken from the finished product, and has been subjected to bending test at ambient temperature, with 100mm sheath and covering removed at both ends.The conductor at both ends of the cable shall be properly disposed of in accordance with the electrical connection and the manufacturer's recommendation.
6. The test voltage: 200~1000V can be adjusted as shown in figure
Mechanical vibration and fire resistance: the following test devices are included as shown in FIG. 5, and the components are fixed at the corresponding positions of the slotted frame.

The heat source:
1. Wall and its installation: the wall is composed of heat-resistant and flame-retardant materials and fixed on two horizontal steel beams, one on the upper part of the board and the other on the bottom of the board.The board is about 900mm long, 300 mm wide and 9 mm thick, and the total weight of the wall (i.e. board and supporting frame) is 10 + / - 2 kg.Each beam is a 1m, 25mm square steel pipe.If filling material is required, place it inside the steel beam.The upper steel beam must be fixed to the plate to make its upper surface level with the upper edge of the plate.There is a horizontal hole at the outer edge of each steel beam and plate, and the exact position is determined by the need for a specific support liner and support frame.The wall is bonded to the frame by four rubber bushing with a diameter of about 32mm thick and 20mm thick.

5. Vibration device: the vibration device is made of a mild steel bar (25mm in diameter + 5%, 600mm + 5% in length).The longitudinal section of the bar is parallel to the wall, 200mm higher than the top of the wall.An axle divides it into two parts, 200mm and 400mm, with the long part facing the wall.Between 30 + 2 s from 60 ° C from the parallel position drops to the wall in the middle of the position, as shown in figure 5.
6. Sample: the sample shall be no less than 1,200mm in one section of the cable, and the sheath and covering layer of 100mm shall be removed at both ends.The conductor at both ends of the cable shall be properly prepared in accordance with the electrical connection and manufacturer's recommendation.The cable shall be bent from the middle into two sections close to equal length and parallel.The diameter of the bending part is 6D, and D represents the outer diameter of the cable.Make the cable zig-zag, and the distance between the two fixed points is 13D.
The cable needs to be fixed on the wall with copper clip, and the installation of special cable needs to refer to the manufacturer.The clamps need to be fixed on the two curved parts of the cable. The middle part of the bending is vertical: the distance between the adjacent clamps is about 150mm to 200mm when the cable becomes horizontal
